More than 50 employers participated in Art + Design Career Networking Day on February 26, 2016.
Presented by the LSU College of Art & Design and the LSU Olinde Career Center, Art + Design Networking Day is an open networking session for students and employers. The event location was moved from the LSU Design Building to the LSU Student Union’s Royal Cotillion Ballroom this year due to increasing registration from employers. The new venue was a success. Feedback from employers stressed the importance of having more room to spread out and maximize their display space.
A special thanks to Humprheys & Partners Architects for establishing a program in which they donate $1,000 scholarship to every school where they recruit!
After the networking portion of the event, employers attended a luncheon sponsored by the College of Art & Design with Dean Alkis Tsolakis and faculty. Employers could elect to stay throughout the afternoon ton conduct interviews with candidates. Twenty-seven employers conducted over 200 one-on-one interviews with LSU College of Art & Design students.
Also new in 2016, the College of Art & Design hosted the first official Pre-Networking Day Employer Presentations the evening before Networking Day, February 25. Twenty-four employers gave 10-minute presentations about their firms and businesses and what they are looking for when hiring new employees.
Art + Design Career Networking Day is a key opportunity for students to meet with employers and gain networking experience while gathering tips on job searching and learning more about career possibilities and potential employers.
The date for the spring 2017 LSU Art + Design Career Networking Day will be announced later this year.
